Study on “Foreign Policy” 2008 In October 2008, Foreign Policy magazine, in conjunction with the consulting firm AT Kearney and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, published a ranking of global cities, on the basis of consultation with Saskia Sassen, Witold Rybczynski , among others. Foreign Policy noted that the larger cities and better interconnected world, help set global agendas, are able to deal with transnational threats and serve as centers of global integration. They are the engines of growth for their countries and the gateways to the resources of their regions. The rankings are based on the evaluation of 24 indicators in five areas: business activity, human capital, information exchange , cultural activity and political commitment. This chart lists the 60 cities on which the survey was conducted, regarding them as the main global centers today:
